2 New COPS Funding Opportunities

COPS-Community-Policing-Development – Community Policing Development (CPD) funds are used to advance the practice of community policing in law enforcement agencies through training and technical assistance, the development of innovative community policing strategies, applied research, guidebooks, and best practices that are national in scope. The COPS Office, a federal provider of innovative, customer-focused resources that address the continuing and emerging needs of those engaged in enhancing public safety through community policing, has designed the CPD solicitation to address critical topics in the law enforcement field by building on the principles of community policing. Current Closing Date for Applications: The deadline for submitting applications in response to this grant announcement is 5:00 PM EDT on Friday, May 24, 2013.

COPS-Microgrants-for-Law-Enforcement – The Microgrant Initiative is part of the COPS Office Community Policing Development (CPD) Program that aims to facilitate the implementation or advancement of nationwide community policing efforts, as well as to address existing gaps in community policing knowledge and tools. The specific objective of the Microgrant Initiative is to highlight innovative and experimental community policing projects in state, local, tribal, campus, and/or other law enforcement agencies. Projects developed under this solicitation should be innovative in their approach to enhancing the community policing activities of the applicant agency and be replicable and of potential relevance and interest to other jurisdictions. Current Closing Date for Applications: The deadline for submitting applications in response to this grant announcement is 5:00 PM EDT on Friday, May 24, 2013.
